Guwahati, July 11: Actress-turned-lawmaker Angoorlata Deka today lodged a case at Dispur police station over a fake tweeter account in her me.

The Batadrava MLA said the fake account was brought to her notice today.

Several objectioble tweets were sent in her me on the micro-blogging site.

One of the tweets said, "Shame on Hindus for wasting huge amount of money on Khan movies... fools use this money on Ram mandir instead."

The account, bearing Angoorlata's photo, was apparently opened in May, 2016. It says it is the "unofficial account of the most beautiful MLA of the BJP." It has over 2,000 followers.

The legislator today maintained she does not have any account in the micro-blogging site.

"I cannot even think of such comments... I am from the film fraternity. Ever since I became an MLA, the social media is after me. I am being repeatedly targeted," she said.

Two months back, Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma had courted controversy after he splashed a photo of the BJP MLA saying, "If MLA can look like this, Achche din aagaye hai..Thank you Angoorlataji, Thank you Modiji..1st time I love politics (sic)."

Within seconds, the filmmaker was barraged by tweets with the hashtag #SaySorryRGV.

Ms Deka, a popular Assamese actor, won from Batadrava constituency against Congress veteran, Gautam Bora. She has worked in several Bengali and Assamese films and once portrayed Bezir Bhutto in Assamese mobile theatre.

The young actor joined BJP last year. She was one of the six women candidates fielded by the party in Assam and one of the two who won.
