Sonowal pushes for raising power generation

GUWAHATI, Aug 16: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Tuesday reviewed the power scerio in the State and directed the Power department to chalk out a time-bound strategy to raise power generation. Presiding over a high level meet at Dispur today, the Chief Minister said that subsidiary companies of ASEB should intrinsically be associated with the lives of the people and conceive of innovative ideas to make Assam a power-surplus State. He also asked the Power department to focus on chalking out measures to reduce transmission and distribution losses, directing concerned bodies to render their services professiolly.  Sonowal while taking stock of the status of all power generating stations in Assam, enquired about their share in the State’s overall energy requirement. He also stressed upon the need to bring in revolutiory changes in the service delivery system and revenue generation by the Power department.
