Sonowal resigns as MoS

Guwahati, May 21: State BJP president and chief minister-desigte Sarbanda Sonowal today met Prime Minister rendra Modi in New Delhi and submitted his resigtion as Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs.

Sonowal, who flew to the tiol capital yesterday with party leader Himanta Biswa Sarma after a meeting with the newly elected BJP MLAs here, met party president Amit Shah last evening.

After meeting the PM today, Sonowal also had a discussion with senior party leaders Ram Lal and Ram Madhav on the formation of the government and composition of the new council of ministers.

He is expected to return to the State tomorrow after which he will chair a meeting of the BJP legislature party.
