Sonowal vows tough riposte

GUWAHATI, Aug 13: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Saturday strongly condemned the killing of two innocent wage labourers and injuries to several others in Friday night's terrorist strike at 11 No. Bamungoan under Philobari Police Station in Tinsukia district.

Terming the attack an act of cowardice, Sonowal said, "Such killings of urmed innocent daily wage earners are against humanity and an act of cowardice. The State government will fight tooth and il against such killings and will not spare anyone behind such senseless and dastardly acts."

Calling upon all ethnic communities, linguistic and religious minorities to rise in unison against such inhuman acts, the Chief Minister said, "If everyone joins hands with the government, it will be easier to take the battle to the enemy's camp."

Asserting that his government will not be cowed down by heinous acts of terrorism, Sonowal said, "Terrorism will be put down with an iron hand and security will be beefed up to foil the sinister designs of anti-tiol forces. Our government vows to protect life and property of the people and will take all necessary measures toward this end."
