Stir halts work at OIL wells

DULIAJAN, JULY 8: Organizations in Duliajan today resorted to a picketing of the OIL well’s demanding appointment of Rupshikha Borah as the CMD of the PSU.

Activists of the Brihottor Asomiya Yuba Manch, Dibrugarh distict committee, Duliajan Regiol committees of Mab Adhikar Sangram Samity, Sonowal Kachari Students Union, Bhadoi garik Mancha, Duliajan Agragami Mahila Samity, Duliajan Mahila Surakksha Manch, Tejaswini Mahila Sesschasewi Manch and Uttoran Anchalik Mahila Samity forced prevented well workers from going to their duties at gajan, harkatia, Tengakhat and Bhadoi.

The activists also burnt tyres on roads to register their protest.

Demanding immediate appointment of Borah, Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) activists also staged a dhar in front of the OIL’s headquarter.

Around 500 protesters shouted slogans against the government and OIL.

After the protest, the AGP submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through Circle Officer Moon Gogoi.
