Swine flu alert

Guwahati, February 20: With swine flu claiming over 700 lives in the country, the Assam health department has sounded an alert. Nodal officer Dr Bhabesh Bhagowati said all civil hospitals have been asked to keep isolation wards ready. Medical colleges have been asked to keep ICU facilities on alert mode. No cases of swine flu have been detected in the State so far. Some samples were sent to Regiol Medical Research Centre, but all were negative. Earlier, a patient from Dimapur was tested positive for H1N1 at Dibrugarh. However, health department said there was no reason for panic in Assam.
