Swine flu claims 2nd victim in Assam

Guwahati, March 10: Swine flu claimed its second fatality in Assam with another person succumbing to the H1N1 virus last night.

Both the patients hailed from Jorhat town, official sources said.

While the first patient had died on March 4 on way from Jorhat to Guwahati for advanced treatment, the second patient died at a private hospital in Dibrugarh. The latest victim is a State PWD employee.

More than six cases of swine flu have been confirmed in the State so far.

A doctor at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, where the first victim was hospitalized before being referred to Guwahati, has also been detected with the H1N1 virus.

Treatment of all suspected cases of swine flu in JMCH is being done in isolation wards.
