Guwahati, April 21: Technical and electrical faults disrupted the iugural programme of the two-day DCs and SPs conference that began at the Assam Administrative Staff College today morning, leaving the organizers and officials red-faced.

The high profile meeting was disrupted for nearly 20 minutes, and even Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had to speak without the microphone working.

There was a power failure while Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla was delivering the welcome address.

The power connection could not be restored immediately. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also began his speech with the audio system disfunctiol. The result was that the officials and mediapersons seated at the back rows could not hear the Chief Minister’s speech till the power connection was restored after some time. Some DCs and SPs even complained they couldn’t hear the Chief Minister.

It is learnt that there are some electrical and technical faults in the building awaiting repair.

The faults were noticed during the DGPs conference held at the venue which was also attended by Prime Minister rendra Modi.

The Administrative Staff College authorities had moved the Fince department several times seeking sanction for the maintence works, but to no avail.

A proposal of Rs 35 lakh was sent to the Fince department, but it was not sanctioned on the ground that the fincial year was nearing end. “The Fince department had sent some queries. It also sought a detailed proposal. Ultimately, the process got delayed and it reached the fincial year end. The proposal was not sanctioned,” the Administrative Staff College authorities said.
