Tarun Gogoi maneuvering for ’sonrise’: BJP

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, January 31: The State BJP on Saturday took a swipe at Tarun Gogoi, alleging that the Chief Minister is maneuvering to build up his son Gaurav Gogoi’s political career with an eye to next year’s Assembly elections.

Talking to media persons here, State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya said, "The recent ministry reshuffle was done by the Chief Minister with a view to safeguard his son’s political career. Most of the new members inducted in the Cabinet are not fit for electoral battle."

Terming the Congress party a ‘sinking boat’, Bhattacharya said, “People have no faith in the Congress. In the coming civic elections, our party will win in a big way all over the State. We are also hopeful of good performance in the 2016 Assembly elections.”

The State BJP president further alleged that the Chief Minister’s claim of fighting the coming Assembly polls is not true. “Gogoi will project his son as the party leader for the 2021 Assembly elections in Assam,” he added.
