Technical sg blamed for tiol Anthem fiasco in Assembly

By Our Staff Reporter

Guwahati, June 3: An embarrassed Directorate of Information & Public Relations today blamed the tiol Anthem fiasco in the Assam Assembly yesterday on "technical sg" even as two staff of the directorate expressed regret over the incident.

Assembly Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das told the House today that a "technical problem" had caused the glitch in the tune of the tiol Anthem that was played at the beginning of the proceedings yesterday.

Reading out the findings of an enquiry conducted by the Principle Secretary of the Assembly, Das said the Directorate of Information & Public Relations is responsible for playing the recorded tune of the Anthem in the Assembly.

As on previous occasions, the directorate personnel in charge of playing the tune had checked the fitness of the tape recorder and other equipment before the day's proceedings yesterday.

However, a technical problem occurred when the tune was played as Governor PB Acharya arrived to address the iugural session of the 14th Assembly yesterday. As a result, the Anthem played out of tune in a sloppy manner.

The DIPR personnel in charge of playing the tune - technician Deepak Kalita and operator Ranjan Das - have expressed regret over the incident.
