Thaosen back as NCHAC CEM

Haflong, Feb 13: Debojeet Thaosen of the Congress was on Friday elected unopposed  as Chief Executive Member of the eleventh NC Hills Autonomous Council.

Today's session was chaired by the Chairman of NCHAC Ngamrothang Hmar.

The main business of the today's session was to conduct the election of CEM.

However, the Chairman of Parliamentary Committee Mihir Gorlosa submitted a fact-finding report on the alleged irregularities in recent appointments which was said to be "serious in ture", drawing attention of all the members for discussion.

Talking to the media later, newly elected CEM Debojeet Thaosen thanked the people of Dima Hasao for reposing faith on him and said his first and foremost work would be to resolve the salary problem of the council employees. The employees are going without salaries since the last nine months.

Ten BJP executive members had formally joined the Congress recently, taking the strength of the party to 17 in the 30-member council.

In October last, as many as 18 Congress executive members had joined the BJP and subsequently the 30-member council autonomous council was taken over by the saffron party with former rebel Niranjan Hojai as its Chief Executive Member.
