Tickets sold out, but stands empty

Smelling a ‘political’ rat,

Ajit Singh seeks probe

Guwahati, Feb 11: Tickets at some venues of the ongoing South Asian Games are said to have been sold out, but curiously most of the galleries and stands are going empty during the events. Flabbergasted at this trend, Ajit Singh, co-chairman of the organizing committee and Assam Sports minister, has sought a probe into it.

“On one hand, people are not getting tickets at the counters and on the other hand, the stands are going empty. Where have all the tickets gone? Many people have come to me complaining they are uble to get tickets for the events,” Singh said.

He wondered if any vendor had hoarded the tickets in advance or if the “tickets have gone to a different place.” He said there is resentment among the people as they are uble to watch the Games, the biggest sporting extravaganza being held in the region.

“I have a feeling that the BJP is doing politics over the Games. The Chief Minister had yesterday pointed out that posters and hoardings put up on the Games feature the photograph of only the Central minister. In such events held jointly, there should be mutual respect for each other. The Games was possible only because of the infrastructure set up by the State government,” Singh added.
