Guwahati, Nov 16: Additiol Chief Secretary VS Bhaskar was today placed under suspension and discipliry proceedings initiated against him on charges of "misconduct and misdemeanor" at a dinner party last night.

The action was taken by the State government following a report from the Chief Secretary who had hosted an official farewell party for 4 Corps GoC Lt Gen Sarath Chand at the Assam Administrative Staff College here.

Bhaskar, an IAS officer of 1985 batch, has been holding the charge of Additiol Chief Secretary (Tourism and Information & Technology).

He allegedly misbehaved with the senior army officer and his wife in inebriated condition.

"He misbehaved in a manner unbecoming of a senior officer of his rank. His misconduct and misdemeanor have brought extreme shame and dishonor to the entire State government," his suspension order issued by the Governor stated.

This is the first such incident in the State involving a senior IAS officer.

Bhaskar had in the past invited such controversies for misbehavior and negligence of duty.
