Top NDFB rebels gunned down

Guwahati, April 1: Two NDFB (S) militants – a self-styled battalion commander and a self-styled section commander – were killed in a gunfight with security forces at a village in Biswath Chariali of Sonitpur district. Based on inputs provided by Gajraj Intelligence of the army, Sohaisullah, the third battalion commander and Raton, a section commander, were killed during a fierce gunbattle with a joint team of Assam Rifles and police. The operation was launched on March 30. Late last night, the security forces noticed some persons moving suspiciously and challenged them. However, the security forces were fired at by the militants. The subsequent gunfight resulted in the killing of the two militant leaders. One AK 47 rifle, two pistols, two hand gredes and other warlike stores were recovered from the slain militants.
