Top NDFB(S) leader held in Bengaluru

Bengaluru/ Guwahati, January 27: A top NDFB(S) militant was arrested here today.

27–year old Sanju Bordoloi, the organising secretary of tiol Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit), was arrested from his hideout in the Electronic City based on specific inputs. He is also wanted in connection with the December 23 violence.

He is the second NDFB(S) militant to be arrested in the city within a week.

Birkhang Basumatary, also allegedly involved in the December 23 carge, was arrested here on January 23.

“City Crime Branch arrested Sanju Bordoloi, son of Dim Wser Bordoloi, of Kamrup District in Assam, from Electronic City Police Station limits based on specific inputs,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Goel said in a statement here.

Bordoloi was hiding here after participating in the recent massacre, he said, adding that the militant admitted that he was the organising secretary of NDFB(S) and trained in Bangladesh in AK–series of weapons.

Goel also said the police are coorditing with the tiol Investigation Agency (NIA) and Assam Police to hand him over to them.

NIA sources said the agency has already sought four days’ transit remand of the arrested militant.

Basumatary alias Bhutur, a tive of Chirang in Assam, had already been handed over to Assam police.

Meanwhile, three NDFB(S) militants, two of whom were involved in the killing of Sonitpur ASP Guljar Hussain, were arrested by police from Pavoi Reserve Forest last night. The militants were identified as ihub alias Nitul Doimary, the self–styled deputy commander of NDFB(S) 3rd battalion, Mwnthai alias Runiliush Doimary and Jondish alias Sokson Bisumutary. One AK 47 rifle, a Chinese pistol and a grede were recovered from them. ihub and Mwnthai were involved in ASP Hussain killing.
