Topper Sarfaraz has techie dreams

GUWAHATI, May 31: Fincial hardships cannot prevent a person from fulfilling his dreams. Sarfaraz Hussain of Sakrdev Sishu Niketan Betkuchi, whose father works at a restaurant in the city, proved this today by securing the top rank in the HSLC examition. Sarfaraz became a role model for lakhs of students when he overcame all odds to achieve his goal. He topped the list with 590 marks. Sarfaraz secured 100 in General Science, 97 each in English and Assamese, 99 each in General Maths and Social Studies and 98 in Advanced Maths.

Sarfaraz, who resides in a small house at Jyotishree gar in Lalganesh area of the city with his parents Ajmal Hussain and Suriya Begum, origilly hails from Patharighat area in Darrang district. An elated Sarafarz told The Sentinel that he was sure he would be among the rank holders. “Yes, I expected to be in the top 10 list, but never thought I would be topper. I worked hard amidst fincial problems,” he said. He said he had studied 12 to 18 hours per day before the examition.  

Sarafarz said he was grateful to his parents for giving him a good education despite their poor finces. “I never faced any pressure from them to study. However, I knew that education is the only means to change our lives. I want to give my parents a good life in future,” he said. Sarafarz said that he would study science in Cotton College and in future he wants to be an engineer.
