Total India's COVID-19 tally reached to 46,711

NEW DELHI: The total number of novel coronavirus cases in India mounted to 46,711 on Tuesday.

However 13,160 people have recovered so far. In an evening update, the Health Ministry said of the total cases, 31,967 are active cases, and 1,583 have succumbed to the disease. According to statistics based on Union Health Ministry report, despite the first 21-day lockdown, over 40 districts reported new cases between April 17 and 26.

However, there has also been a steady number of discharge from hospitals. In the Northeast where some States like Arunachal Pradesh remained a corona-free so far, the number of corona positive people in Assam rose to 43, of whom 32 have been discharged and one death. Manipur still remains a corona-free State. There have been 12 cases in Meghalaya, and one in Mizoram. (IANS)
