Traders gherao police station

Guwahati, May 3: Members of the Chagoli Bazar (goat market) Union today gheraoed the Bharalumukh police station, demanding unconditiol release of three of their associates who were detained last night. The union members alleged that the police were extorting money from the vehicles, and their members were detained after they refused to pay up. The trio was in a vehicle that brought in goats from Barpeta. Police, however, denied the allegations that said the three persons were detained on suspicion as they could not furnish any identity cards. The detained traders were released after a medical examition today.
