FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

DIMORIA, Aug 20: The All Assam Tribal Sangha, All Bodo Students’ Union and many other organizations came out on the roads protesting against the alleged discrimition of SC and ST candidates in fil selection of permanent teachers for LP school. The agitators blocked the NH 37 in Sopur, following which massive traffic congestion took place along the highway on Thursday, as the blockade lasted for around one and a half hour.

The All Assam Tribal Sangha has urged the government to cancel the list of selected candidates published on August 14, alleging that there are many faults on it.

The agitators also urged the government to immediately appoint ST and SC candidates into the 5000 posts which were declared unreserved by the government in 2012 citing excuses of lack of candidates from the reserved categories.

The organizations led by Tribal Sangha leader Aditya Khaklari and ABSU president Promod Boro said that if the government fails to appoint the TET qualified ST and SC candidates at the earliest, in the coming days they will stiffen their protest. The agitators later sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the local circle officer.
