Two killed in Dimapur blast

Guwahati, June 27: Two persons were killed and as many injured in a blast at a hospital in Dimapur on Saturday evening. The explosion took place at around 4:45 PM in one of the warehouses located within the compound of Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research located at 4th Mile in Dimapur. Two persons identified as Prakash Vishwakarma (40) and his daughter Ruth Gurung (16) died on the spot.

 The injured were identified as Deepak Gurung - son-in-law of Prakash Vishwakarma - and his son Robin (4).

Police said Prakash Vishwakarma is a staff of CIHSR working since the last six months.

Sources said Prakash was seen in the room handling an object, description of which appears to be a grede.

The injured have been shifted to CIHSR while the two bodies have been sent for post mortem. Police have carried out necessary formalities on the spot and collected splinters to ascertain the type of explosive. The area has been sanitised by the bomb disposal squad and further investigation is on to ascertain the source of the explosive.
