Guwahati, April 7: With just two working days to go before Rongali Bihu, there is uncertainty whether State government employees will receive their March salaries before the festival. There are only two working days before the Rongali Bihu holidays - April 8 and 12. In an immediate order, the Kamrup metropolitan deputy commissioner has released all the officers of the three treasuries engaged in election duty. The three treasuries in the district are responsible for bill-related work of over 5,000 offices in the district. On the other hand, in an order issued late in the evening, the government directed all DCs, SDOs and treasury officers "to work over-time on Thursday and ensure that the salary bills are released tonight itself." An official statement earlier had claimed that in some places, the employees have received their salaries. "The process is on. All employees will receive their salaries before Bihu. All pensions will also be disbursed before Bihu," the release said.
