Unipay collectors arrested

JORHAT, May 20: Jorhat Police on Wednesday arrested yet another collector of the famous Unipay Company identified as Arobindo Goswami, Assistant Mager at Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), Amguri branch, as a part of its ongoing operation against Unipay collectors alleged to have duped customers of several crores of rupees.

Goswami was arrested on the basis of an FIR lodged by Porag Padma Phukan and in reference to Jorhat PS case no 1850/2013 U/S 420, 406, 468, 120B/34 IPC. After producing before the CJM Court, the accused was remanded to three days police custody.

Jorhat Police on Monday arrested another co-accused and collector of Unipay, identified as Diganta Bora, assistant cashier of APDCL Dergaon electrical circle and was remanded to three days police custody. The complaint had accused the duo of duping customer of around Rs 10 lakh.
