From our Correspondent

Kokrakjhar, February 28:  “United People’s Party (UPP) has talked with the ruling Congress and the decision of understanding is almost fil. The Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) betrayed us after we supported them during the last parliamentary election. So now the UPP wants Congress to retain power in the State,” said UPP president UG Brahma. He also said they would have seat sharing as well as friendly contest in some constituencies.

A rally was taken out on Sunday by UPP from Fakiragram to Chitila under No- 29 west Kokrajhar constituency.  Thousands of party supporters took part in the rally and shouted slogans for equal development.

Participating in the rally, UPP president UG Brahma, who is also likely to become the candidate of No-29 west Kokrajhar constituency, said that the UPP wanted to work for the greater interest of the common people and hence the party had decided to have an understanding with Congress.

Brahma said that the UPP would be playing a major role in the forthcoming election and people were supporting UPP to bring changes in the BTAD. Slamming the BPF, he said that BPF had been depriving the common people. Also, people feared for their life and security in the region.

The UPP will declare its candidate list within 2-3 days.
