GUWAHATI, January 3: Bicky Production today released two Assamese books translated into Bengali, at the 28th Guwahati Book Fair. The books are a collection of Prab Kumar Barman’s poetry translated into Bengali by Sudipa Bhattacharjee as Pagli Brishti Porche, Dekho Dekho  and Pankaj Kumar Dutta’s short story collection translated by Bidhisha Ghose as Fugu Macher Galpo.

The two books were released by Ushanranjan Bhattacharya, Dr Anima Guha and Maini Mahanta.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharya said: “Translation is a difficult but important task. The translator should know both the languages very well. Translation helps unite two different cultures.” Guha said: “If a translator finds it difficult to know the right meaning of some words, he/she should approach the right persons to get them known. The initiative on translation being taken by Vicky Publication is laudable.”
