Voters' list on updated NRC only: AASU

GUWAHATI, April 1: A delegation of the All Assam Students Union (AASU), led by its advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjee, general secretary Prab Kumar Gogoi and educationist Basanta Deka, met Chief Election Commissioner HS Brahma in New Delhi on Wednesday. The AASU delegation demanded that the voters’ list in Assam should be prepared on the basis of the updated NRC. The students’ body told the Chief Election Commissioner that mes of many Bangladeshis have been included in the voters’ list in Assam. It also told Brahma about the judgements given by the Supreme Court and the Gauhati High Court on the presence of illegal Bangladeshis in the State.

The AASU delegation later stated that the CEC has responded positively to the AASU demand.
