SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Tuesday reported 21 new COVID-19 cases taking the State's tally to 152.

Health authorities informed that of the 21 new cases, 18 were reported from East Khasi Hills, two from Ri-Bhoi and one from East Jaintia Hills.

The State also recorded 20 new recovered cases with East Khasi Hills registering 17 (Armed & paramilitary forces: four; civilians: 13), followed by Ri-Bhoi (two) and West Jaintia Hills (one). The total number of active cases have surged to 13,356.

East Khasi Hills remains the worst affected district with 112 active cases, while three districts – South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills and East Garo Hills are presently, free from the virus.

Till Tuesday afternoon, of the 3, 10, 487 persons tested for COVID-19, 2, 96, 836 tested negative.

The number of persons under institutional quarantine are 54 and those are home quarantine/isolation are 97. The State has 14 containment zones and the case fatality rate is 1.04 per cent. The number of entrants into the State from all over the country and outside till Tuesday afternoon is 82, 035.
