66 North Eastern Region Projects Worth Rs 820 Crore Completed

NEW DELHI: As many as 66 projects worth Rs 820.77 crore completed in the north eastern states in last 100 days of the Narendra Modi government.

“Satellite monitoring has helped the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to get these projects completed,” said DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday.

Talking to reporters here, Dr Singh said that 110 projects costing Rs 1,699.69 crore were sanctioned in the Northeast in last 100 days. “A total of 66 projects costing Rs 820.77 crore were completed; and six projects costing Rs 39.95 crore were operationalized,” said Dr Singh.

In fact, Dr Singh said, in the last two years there was 100 percent implementation of different projects in the north-eastern region.

“We have now started releasing only 10 per cent of funds at the beginning of a project. Then 40 per cent after the work-order get released and the remaining funds with the release of utilization certificates,” said Dr Singh, and added “such fund release pattern, as well as close monitoring, has helped tremendously in the implementation of developmental projects in the Northeast.

He further said that all the north-eastern States have now the political will to achieve their developmental works.

“All the State governments are now very active…,” said Dr Singh.

He said that in-principal approval has been accorded for the first bamboo industrial park to be setup in Northeast. “It will be established at Manderdisa in the Dima Hasao district of Assam on an area of 75 hectares at a cost of Rs 50 crore. This project is targeted to be completed by March 2021,” the Minister said.
