7.96 lakh voters in bye-election to Assam Legislative Assembly, 2021

GUWAHATI: A total of 7,96,456 general electors in five constituencies – 28 Gossaigaon, 41 Bhabanipur, 58 Tamulpur, 101 Mariani and 107 Thowra Legislative Assembly Constituencies will exercise their democratic right of voting in the bye-election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2021. Out of them, 4,03,374 are males, 3,93,078 are females, and 4 are transgender. Apart from them, there are also 3,165 service voters.

There are 8,864 general electors above 80 years of age and 4,998 PwD electors in the five constituencies. On the other hand, during the Special Summary Revision of the electoral roll began on November 18, 2020, concerning January 1, 2021, as the qualifying date, a total of 43,229 electors got included newly in the Electoral Roll.

The constituency, having the highest number of electors, i.e. 2,17,432 in the ensuing by-election, is Tamulpur LAC, and Thowra LAC has the lowest number of 1,15,971 voters, a press release said.
