GUWAHATI: How safe is traffic in Guwahati? The situation seems grim if the number of accidents and the number of lives taken in three months from January 1 this year has anything to go by. Believe it or not, as many as 63 people were killed and 207 others injured in 239 accidents in three months from January 1, 2019. According to traffic police sources, 61 of the 239 accidents that took place three months from January 1 this year were fatal ones. As many as 36 of the 61 fatal accidents, which took place during the three months, occurred on National Highway 37, leading to the killing 38 people. This apart, 178 other non-fatal accidents took place in Guwahati during the three months.
