GUWAHATI: The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has granted additional borrowing permission of Rs 1,886 crore for Assam, Rs 192 crore for Meghalaya and Rs 180 crore for Manipur for undertaking stipulated reforms in the power sector.
The objectives of granting financial incentives as additional borrowing permission for taking up reforms in the power sector are to improve the operational and economic efficiency of the power sector, besides promoting a sustained increase in paid electricity consumption.
