AJP gets 'Ship' as Party Symbol, Vows to Strengthen Regionalism

GUWAHATI: The AJP (Assam JatiyaParishad) has announced the newly floated regional party's symbol and registration number to the media after these were notified by the ECI (Election Commission of India). The party's symbol is 'ship' while the registration number is '56/161/2020-2021/PPS-1'.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Sunday, AJP president LurinjyotiGogoi said, "The symbol of 'ship' is intricately connected with the civilization of the river-based communities. The masses have already identified themselves with the AJP; and they will vote to power the regional forces in Assam this time."

Gogoi added, "Our stand is very clear. The AJP has started the march to make regionalism very strong with solid support from the people of Assam. We don't want to establish regionalism by having ties with any national political party or any force that believes in furthering communal disharmony.

"Our prime objective is to unite the regional forces. We have seen how the regional political entities have suffered in the Karbi hills and the BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts). The national political parties are conspiring against the regional parties. This has been the situation across the country."
