GUWAHATI: The AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) has issued a show-cause notice to party's Dhing MLA Aminul Islam for making derogatory comments regarding the Congress-led grand alliance in the State.

AIUDF general secretary (administration) Hafiz Bashir Ahmed has asked Islam to respond to the notice within seven days stating as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

"It has gone viral in the social media that you made some 'derogative' comments recently on the grand alliance and the internal administration of the allied partner, Indian National Congress. You are not supposed and authorized to make a public statement. This has created confusion and posed threat to the grand alliance. Your action is a gross misconduct violating the policies and principle of the party and you are liable for disciplinary action under its Article XXV (A) of the Constitution," reads the show-cause notice.

On the other hand, AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal has restrained all party leaders from making any statement on the grand alliance. He made it clear that only authorized party leaders can make statements regarding the grand alliance.

Meanwhile, the AIUDF has cleared the air that there are no complicacies in the proposed Congress-led alliance.

AIUDF general secretary and spokesperson Karimuddin Borbhuyan said in a statement, "Six parties have forged an alliance to root out the BJP from power in the forthcoming polls. Now, we are having discussions regarding seat-sharing, and very soon it will be completed. Meanwhile, efforts are on for a common minimum programme."

He also added that the AIUDF has not yet announced party candidates for the Assembly poll.
