GUWAHATI: The Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission today served notice to 11 dismissed officers of the Assam Civil Service (ACS) and other allied services to appear before the Commission and record their statements.

The Assam Government had formed a one-man judicial inquiry commission headed by Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma, retired Judge of Gauhati High Court, to inquire into the allegations of anomalies and malpractices in the conduct of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2014 examination of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

After a case was registered in the Dibrugarh police station in the APSC cash-for-job scam, 22 candidates selected in the CCE 2014 were arrested and later dismissed from service. Among them, 11 were served notices today to appear before the Commission and record their statements related to the CCE, 2014 exam. Since the Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission is an independent commission, it can collect evidence and record statements. Sources said that the notices which were served to the 11 candidates mentioned what anomalies were found in their answer sheets. The remaining 11 candidates will also be served notices soon, added sources.

Justice Sharma had also headed the commission which was constituted to inquire into the alleged anomalies in the CCE 2013. During the inquiry, he found 34 anomalous candidates selected based on their performance in CCE, 2013. Significantly, these 34 candidates had not come under the radar of the police during the investigation in the cash-for-job scam.
