GUWAHATI: The prime accused in the SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) scam, former SCERT Executive Chairman-cum-Director Sewali Devi Sharma, has another case slapped on her.

The Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell (CMSVC) registered another case (5/2023) against her for owning assets disproportionate to the known sources of income of the suspended IAS officer. Today, the sleuths of the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell 'shown arrested' Sewali Devi Sharma in the Guwahati Central Jail, where she has been under judicial custody in the case of the Rs 105-crore NCERT scam.

The Court of the Special Judge, Guwahati, sent her to judicial custody in this case as well. The Court also allowed the investigation agency to interrogate the suspended IAS officer in custody.

On July 27, 2023, the CM's Special Vigilance Cell issued a charge sheet against 21 people, including Sewali Devi Sharma, in the SCERT scam case.
