STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court directed the Court of the Special Judge to allow cash-for-job-scam (APSC) accused — Suranjita Hazarika and five others — to inspect some documents, including unmarked and un-exhibited documents that may have been filed along with charge sheet for fair justice.

Following the direction from the High Court, the counsel for the petitioners and the special public prosecutor submitted that June 4, 2022, would be the convenient date for the inspection of documents. So, the Court of Special Judge has given liberty to accused Suranjita Hazarika, Leena Krishna Kakati, Barnali Das, Moon Mazumdar, Saibur Rahman Borbhuiya and Sunayana Aidew to inspect the said documents in the office of this court in the presence of the investigating officer or his representatives and the Sheristadar of this office or his representatives.

The Court of Special Judges asked the accused not to carry any mobile phone at the inspection.

Earlier, the six accused filed criminal petitions in the Gauhati High Court (780/2021 and 221/2022) praying the High Court to direct the Court of Special Judge to give opportunities to the accused to inspect some documents.
