SILCHAR: Mizos miscreants continue to flex their muscles shifting the show to the Karimganj-Mizoram frontier of Rongpur from Cachar.

Armed with all sorts of handy missiles and guns, these miscreants forcibly infiltrated deep inside the Rongpur area of Ratabari constituency, put up signboards of occupation and used drones for a survey, creating a fear psychosis among the inhabitants.

On the other hand, Ministers Ashok Singhal and Atul Bora and an all-party delegation of MLAs led by Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimari visited the Lyllapur border.

Barely three months back, Mizo miscreants occupied Assam land and put up bamboo barricades. The then SP Mayank Kumar Jha, with a CRPF battalion, freed the Assam land. Lyllapur being the focal point now, the Mizo goons are trying to show their bravado on the Karimganj front. New SP Padmanath Barua deployed contingents of police, APBn jawans and CRPF personnel along the disturbed zone. But taking advantage of the critical geophysical terrain and forested areas, their forays continue.

Though police personnel reassure people not to panic, after dusk they live in fear. Villagers say around 50 armed Mizo youths have been seen by them, infiltrating in Ratabari market, vandalised shops and other business concerns just to demonstrate Ratabari on their land. They forcibly took possession of the three thatched homes of V Hrankhal, L Molsom and K Sakchep of the Hrankhal community. They are claiming Ratabari and Rangatila as parts of Mizoland.

SP Padmanath Barua today was on the frontier disturbed by Mizos. Before that DIG Debojit Mukherjee of South Assam had visited the border and taken stock of the situation.

The SP briefed Ministers Atul Bora and Parimal Suklabaidya on the latest development in the Karimganj district. However, there is no information regarding the freeing of the three tribal homes. Police are on the alert to deal with any situation on the border.
