DHUBRI: As if on a fast track, Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Group, visited the 3,400-bigha site for their proposed thermal power plant at Basbari under Parbatjhora Sub-division in the Kokrajhar district today, barely nine days after meeting Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The meeting between the two discussed the implementation of the Adani Group’s commitment to invest Rs 50,000 crore  in Assam made during Advantage Assam 2.0.

Jeet Adani arrived at the site of the proposed power plant with his 20-member team to inspect lands for thermal power and other projects on Tuesday.

The team drove straight to Kumarganj in the Dhubri district, had a look at the river Gangadhar and left for Bilasipara, where they inspected lands in the Chirakuta and Charuwa-Bakhara areas, spanning over 3,500 bighas.

An official source in the Kokrajhar district administration said that Adani Power Division aims to develop Assam’s largest thermal power plant to meet the growing power demands in the state. The Adani Group is planning to set up thermal and solar power projects in lower Assam, sources said. The team also went to Jogighopa to inspect India’s largest logistics park being built.
