GUWAHATI: The chief ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh had a meeting in New Delhi on the boundary issue in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah today. Tomorrow Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma will meet on the inter-state boundary issue in Guwahati.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The boundary disputes in the north-eastern states even after 75 years of independence of India is a black spot for the nation. Otherwise, it is a smooth post-independence journey.
"In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Arunachal Chief Minister Prema Khandu and I had a meeting on the boundary issue. The meeting was cordial. We will meet again next month.
"The Assam-Meghalaya and Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border disputes are not that complicated. If we sit with an open mind, the problems will find solutions. We have cultural and linguistic affinities.
"On the Assam-Meghalaya boundary issues, Sangma and I will have a detailed discussion tomorrow on the reports of the joint visits by the regional committees of both the states."
