GUWAHATI: The report of the departmentally related standing committee the Power Department reflects that the APGCL (Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited) has not been able to generate full capacity in five of its seven own power plants.
According to the report, the Lakwa Thermal Power Station (97.2 MW) is operating at an average of 60 MW (61.72%) depending on the availability of gas. The Lakwa Replacement Power Project (69.75 MW) is generating 65-68 MW (93%).
The Namrup Thermal Power Station (41 MW) is producing 20-22 MW (50%).
Namrup Replacement Power Project (98.4 MW) is generating 94.0 MW (96%-100%).
The Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project (100 MW) is generating around 80 MW-100 MW, depending on water and load demand.
Myntirang Stage-I (9 MW) and Stage-II (4.5 MW) are generating 2-4 MW and 1-1.3 MW, respectively, based on availability of water.
According to the report, the APGCL has an ongoing project - the Lower Kopili Hydro Electric Project (120 MW). Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the project spanning Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts is progressing as planned. All project contracts have been awarded, with completion expected by September 2025.
