GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet approved Assam Industrial and Investment Policy (Amendment) 2023 today, besides deciding to take Rs 2,530-crore loan from the World Bank to upgrade ten district hospitals. The Cabinet also formed a sub-committee for the rehabilitation of child brides.
Briefing the media, Ministers Keshab Mahanta, Ranoj Pegu and Ashok Singhal said that the new industrial and investment policy has sops for investors investing over Rs 100 crore. According to them, the high-power committee will lay investment proposals before the Cabinet within 15 days of receiving the offer. The new investment policy has the condition that all non-technical posts will go to local candidates.
Keshab Mahanta said, "We will modernize ten district hospitals with modern equipment with the Rs 2,530-crore World Bank loan. We will also upgrade 25 rural health centres with it. The Cabinet also approved Rs 150 crore for setting up seven cancer care centres. We will reimburse the medical expenditure of government employees who underwent Covid treatment at their own cost."
Mahanta said, "The Cabinet gave full support to the police action against child marriages. The Cabinet also formed a sub-committee with Education, Finance and Health ministers to look into the rehabilitation of child brides. The committee will submit its report at the earliest possible."
Pegu said, "The rehearsal for 10,000 Bihu dancers, who will perform for Guinness World Record on April 14, will start from April 9. We have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remain present on that day."
