100% Free Power Supply to Oxygen Plants in Assam: Assam Cabinet takes a slew of decisions

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI:

Free Electricity to Oxygen Plants: The Assam State Cabinet took a slew of decisions on Wednesday to augment oxygen production in the State, besides other issues.

To increase oxygen production in the State, the Cabinet decided to provide power free of cost if any defunct oxygen plant is revived, if a new oxygen plant is set up or if an additional unit is set up by an existing plant. For the existing oxygen plants in the State, the Cabinet has decided to provide them 20 per cent power free of cost. These decisions have been taken given the need for medical oxygen in the State during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. [Also Read: Monitor Oxygen Allocation & Supply in Assam]

All these decisions will be implemented with retrospective effective from January 1, 2021. The Cabinet has also decided to appoint Senior Advocate Debojit Saikia as the Advocate General of Assam.

The Cabinet decided to give Cabinet Minister's status to the Chief Executive Members (CEMs) of the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region), KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) and the NCHAC (North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council). At present, the CEMs of these three autonomous councils enjoy the status of MoS (Minister of State).

The Cabinet has also decided to rename the ministers in charge of districts as guardian ministers.
