GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that 2022 will be a peaceful and prosperous year for the state.

Talking to the media today, he said, "In three years, the government will make robust growth in technology that will help do away with human intervention, so will red tape in offices. People will be able to get their jobs done online from home. It will also enable government officials to work round the clock.

"We achieved a lot last year on various fronts like sports, literacy, insurgency, fight against crimes and corruption, etc. The year also marked a lot of development works. This year, we will invest in the social sector and capital projects. Several big projects are at the final stages. The capital project works of around Rs 20,000 crore are going on. The elevated road over the Kaziranga National Park, the Misa-Tezpur tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra, the construction of ten lakh houses for the rural populace, etc., are at their final stages. Apart from this, on January 7, 2022, the State government will sign an MoU with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The MoU is to produce 10 lakh litres of milk per day. Assam produces one lakh litres of milk per day now.

"We are in a robust mode on the economic front. We hope to raise the state GDP to Rs 6 lakh crore by 2026.

"We are keeping the poll promises. We have ensured transparent governance in the state. If Assam is to progress, its youths need to stop running after government jobs. They need to strive for self-employment. It is why the government is laying stress on agriculture, horticulture, dairy etc."
