GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia said that the behaviour that MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi displayed in the Assembly on Friday is 'unbecoming of the BJP culture'.
The state BJP president Dilip Saikia has instructed MLA Kurmi to tender an apology publicly. Saikia has also advised Kurmi not to repeat such behaviour in the Assembly in the future.
The Chief Minister said, "The BJP never supports behaviour like the one MLA Kurmi did in the Assembly yesterday. I've talked to the state BJP president on this issue."
Dilip Saikia told Kurmi in his letter that 'his behaviour in the Assembly has left the BJP karyakartas stunned'. He said that the 'BJP is a disciplined party led under some special etiquette. This party fights for its ideological war by keeping 'tolerance and self-restraint intact'.
The Chief Minister said that 'his behaviour is out of sync with that of the BJP'. All MLAs have to make it a point that when an MLA speaks, other members should not disturb him or her. "MLA Akhil Gogoi repeatedly disturbed Kurmi in his speech on the floor of the House yesterday. All MLAs need to abide by the rules and regulations of the House," he said.
