Assam: Copious rainfall recorded in the state in past 24 hours

Guwahati: Copious amounts of rainfall were witnessed in the past 24 hours in the state, and light to moderate rainfall is forecast for the next two days. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail in the Brahmaputra Valley on June 24 and 25.

According to IMD, the chief amount of rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours was Bihubar (District Sivasagar) 9 cm, Margherita (District Tinsukia) 9 cm, Ranganadi (District Lakhimpur) 9 cm, Majuli 8 cm, AP Ghat (District Cachar) 8 cm, B P Ghat (District Sribhumi) 7 cm, Amraghat (District Cachar) 7 cm, Chouldhowaghat (District Lakhimpur) 7 cm, Lkhep (District West Karbi Anglong) 7 cm, Lakhipur (District Cachar) 6 cm, Bakulia (District Karbi Anglong) 6 cm, Gharmura (District Hailakandi) 5 cm, Silchar (District Cachar) 5 cm, Majuli (District Majuli) 5 cm, Lakhipur (District Cachar) 5 cm, and Kokrajhar 5 cm.

The IMD’s forecast for June 24 says, “Moderate rain very likely to occur at many places over Assam. Three to Four degree rise in Maximum Temperature very likely over Assam. Hot and humid conditions very likely over Brahmaputra Valley.”

The forecast for June 25 says, “Light to Moderate rain very likely to occur at a few places over Assam. Three to Four degree rise in Maximum Temperature very likely over Assam. Hot and humid conditions very likely over Brahmaputra Valley.”
