Assam earthquake: PM Narendra Modi assures all help to the State government

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal immediately after a massive earthquake jolted Assam on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister took stock of the damage caused by the earthquake and assured the Chief Minister of all necessary help from the Central Government.

The Prime Minister later in the afternoon again called Chief Minister Sonowal and discussed the situation in detail. The Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister about information received from different parts of the State regarding damage caused by the earthquake.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh also called Chief Minister Sonowal and took stock of the damage. They also assured all necessary help and support to the State government, a press release said.
