Assam Floods: 46,507 animals killed in floods

GUWAHATI: Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora today said that the floods in the state affected 44,11,576 domestic animals, besides killing 46,507 of them. He said, "We are holding post-flood veterinary camps. We are also trying to pay compensation to the affected farmers from the SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund). Since the Veterinary Department has a dearth of manpower, we have moved the APSC for the selection of 162 Veterinary Officers. We will recruit 378 field assistants."
