Assam Government directs halt to Biometric Attendance system
GUWAHATI: In view of the threat from novel coronavirus (COVID – 19) in the country and also to ensure that all possible preventive measures have been taken to stop the virus from spreading, all offices and institutions (both public and private), PSUs, commercial organizations across the State have been directed to stop use of the ‘Biometric Attendance System’ where physical contact is required with the system to record attendance.
However, any other biometric attendance system where physical contact is not required (like face recognition etc.) shall continue to be used as earlier.
During this period, the attendance may be marked manually in the office registers and appropriately maintained by the respective Head of Office. This order issued by the Government of Assam shall remain in force till March 31, 2020, stated the directive.
