GUWAHATI: The State Government extended the suspension of ACS officer Saibar Rahman by three months. The Personnel Department of the State Government issued a notification in this regard today. Rahman was arrested on August 24, 2021, in the Vigilance PS case (03/2021), leading to his suspension when he was the Deputy Secretary, Welfare of Minorities Development Department.

The review committee formed after his suspension recommended the extension of Rahman’s suspension term, considering the seriousness of the charges, which involve moral turpitude, corruption, and misuse of official power for personal gains. The government extended Rahman’s suspension term today on the basis of the recommendations of the committee.

He was arrested on charges of owning property disproportionate to his known sources of income and irregularities in land allotment in Mankachar while discharging duty as an Additional Deputy Commissioner.
