Assam Government shuffles top IAS officers in state

GUWAHATI: In an administrative shake-up at the IAS level in the state, a senior IAS officer is on his way to central deputation, and another senior IAS officer is on his way to his home cadre from central deputation.

The Personnel Department of the State Government issued several notifications regarding the bureaucratic reshuffle of IAS officers.

According to one of the notifications, in pursuance of the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, the services of Niraj Verma (RR-1994), Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Power (E), Personnel Departments and Chairman, APDCL and APGCL, and Additional Principal Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, New Delhi, are placed at the disposal of the Government of India for appointment as Administrator, Universal Service Obligation Fund, Department of Telecommunications, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, from the date of taking over charge. Niraj Verma is released from the state government with effect from the date of handing over the charge.

According to another notification, on returning from Central Deputation, Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi (RR-1996) is posted as Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Personnel, and Power (E) Departments, with effect from the date of taking over charge.

Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi is also temporarily posted as Chairman of APDCL as an additional charge.

The Personnel Department also shuffled a few other IAS officers today. According to a notification, Rakesh Kumar (RR-2005), MD, APDCL, and Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Fishery and Excise Departments, is also posted as Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Power (E) Department and Chairman, APDCI, and APGCL as additional charges until Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi takes over charge as Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Personnel and Power (E) Departments and Chairman, APDCI.

In yet another notification, Dr. Robin Kumar, IPS (RR-2013), AIGP (L), Assam, and Managing Director, Assam Medical Services Corporation, is transferred and substantively posted as Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, Health & Family Welfare Department, Managing Director, Assam Medical Services Corporation, and Commissioner of Transport, Assam, as additional charges.
