GUWAHATI: On the lines of Gunotsav, the Assam Government will launch the Swasthya Sewa Utsav (SSU) in 1,252 government health facilities from April 6 to April 8, 2023.
Gunotsav was launched by the government to assess the infrastructure of government educational institutions in the State. Similarly, SSU will be launched to assess the infrastructure of government health facilities and bridge the gaps so that these health facilities can be upgraded to the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS). This is the first-of-its-kind exercise in Assam which will help the government improve the health sector of the State.
Under SSU, assessment of health facilities will be done from April 6 to April 8 by senior officials from districts and faculty members of medical colleges as external evaluators. They will assess the health infrastructure, human resources, and service delivery of district hospitals, sub-divisional civil hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs). There will be a separate report for each health facility. When all the reports are submitted, the government will get an overview of the healthcare system in the State. Based on these reports, while formulating health policies in the future, the government will ensure that the lacunae in the State’s health ecosystem can be filled up.
